Katy Shander Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we come together to remember and honor the life of Katy Shander, a cherished member of our extended aerial yoga (EAY) family. Katy was not only one of our original founding members but also a dedicated teacher who left an indelible mark on countless lives. Her recent passing after a courageous battle with lung cancer has left us profoundly saddened.
Katy held a unique and cherished place within our community. Her unwavering dedication to her personal practice and her boundless love for aerial yoga were evident to all who knew her. Her commitment to sharing her passion was truly exceptional, as she was the first aerial yoga teacher to introduce this practice to our EAY kids. Even during the challenging times of the pandemic, when our studio was closed, Katy’s determination shone brightly. She acquired her own rig to ensure that she could continue her practice.
More recently, after returning to the MetroWest area, Katy rejoined her beloved aerial yoga practice in our studio. Her presence brought immense joy, and the entire community welcomed her back with open arms. Katy’s commitment and passion for her practice were truly inspiring, serving as a testament to her resilient spirit.
Katy’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void within our community. Her absence will be deeply felt, and we will miss her tremendously. However, her memory will forever remain in our hearts as a reminder of the strength, dedication, and warmth she shared with all of us.
In this time of grief, let us remember Katy with gratitude for the light she brought into our lives and the unwavering spirit she displayed until the end. Rest in peace, dear Katy. Your spirit will forever soar in the hearts of the EAY community.
